Customer's problematic

In the midst of a health crisis, how can you continue to let your international customers discover and visit its infrastructures?

It is to respond to this problem that the European leader in data centers, with whom we collaborated in the framework of Smart Port Challenge, asked us. Indeed, while their third MRS3 building in Marseille had just been delivered, Interxion had to adapt to the health constraints of this year 2020 to maintain its projects. Whether it was the inauguration of the building or the planned commercial visits, several stages of the commercial strategy had to be adapted.

The solution provided

An intuitive and accessible virtual tour

So that Interxion could introduce its MRS2 and MRS3 data centers to its local and international partners, we offered them our large-scale, accessible and collaborative virtual tour solution. It offers external viewpoints as well as “Google Street View” navigation inside the data center. Thus, the user benefits from an overview of the building, whether on its installations, entry points or road accesses. Available from our secure web platform, our solution for virtual visit is a support that can be used by all actors in the company, whether it is maintenance, communication services or human resources.

Marketing and commercial uses

At Interxion, marketing and sales departments in particular exploited this virtual visit to facilitate meetings, appointments, or webinars via simple screen sharing. Thus, despite travel and assembly restrictions, a complete tour of the data centers could be offered to the company's prospects and partners to maintain its commercial activity.

The facilities offered to customers, security devices and various rooms could be easily identified thanks to the points of interest functionality of our platform. This feature allows users to geotag multimedia content (images, photos, videos, PDFs, or simple annotations) in space. In this way, visitors could easily see the location of the facilities and the organization of the building, despite the distance.

Implementation of the virtual visit

In order to create this virtual tour, we used our NavVis M6 mobile scanning solution. This 3D scanner makes it possible to jointly collect 3D data (point cloud) and images (HD panoramic photos) of buildings. Given the size of the infrastructures, this solution offering a significant survey capacity was perfectly adapted. A total of 6000 m² was covered in just 4 hours!

Once the 3D data and images were captured, we delivered a virtual “Google Street View” tour of the building's interior. We then integrate several aerial views of the building captured by drone. All the data is then assembled and made available on our web platform. The user also has an extremely accurate 2D plan based on the 3D point cloud that makes it possible to locate themselves in the building. Finally, we are creating shortcuts to access the various rooms more quickly via thumbnails positioned at the bottom of the page.

Customer testimonial

My Digital Buildings' 3D scanning and virtual visit solutions are perfectly adapted to our needs and allow us to continue to introduce our sites to local and international partners, and more particularly in the current health context. For example, the tool offered by MDB was essential for us during the virtual opening event of Interxion MRS3.
