Franciliane x My Digital Buildings Partnership: Where human expertise and 3D scanning technology meet the industrial challenges of the water sector.

This partnership is part of a momentum driven by the SEDIF public service delegation contract with Franciliane, which has placed data management at the heart of its contractual requirements. This strategic vision makes SEDIF a pioneer, particularly through its emphasis on the BIM (Building Information Modeling) approach. By integrating these requirements from the very start of the contract, SEDIF has created the conditions for an ambitious digital transformation of its infrastructure, providing Franciliane with a structured framework to deploy a digitization strategy that meets the challenges of a water service of this scale.

The success of this first phase relies primarily on rigorous planning. Thanks to Franciliane’s clear vision regarding the challenges associated with point clouds, My Digital Buildings benefits from a 5 to 6-week outlook, allowing for the precise adjustment of human resources and equipment.

In the field, MDB teams face major technical challenges: humid atmospheres, confined spaces requiring CATEC certification, installations involving chemicals, electrical systems, and even massive roofs that can lead to geometric deviations.

To ensure absolute precision (within 1 cm), MDB has deployed a comprehensive and hybrid arsenal : total stations to create reliable primary and secondary control networks, static scanners (RTC360), dynamic scanners (NavVis VLX and the new MLX for tight spaces), and drones.

" Our biggest challenge over these six months was ensuring millimeter-level precision on sites with extraordinary dimensions. To achieve this, we deployed a true technological arsenal: the rigor of traditional surveying to lock in the site's overall structure, coupled with ultra-fast mobile scanners to capture every square meter of the interior. We also used fixed scanners for complex areas and drones for inaccessible roofs. This combination of complementary tools allowed us to obtain a complete and flawless digital twin of the sites, even in the most challenging environments. ," notes Sahbi Ouali, Surveyor and Operations Manager at My Digital Buildings.

Beyond mere data capture, it is a true data engineering process that has been implemented. The post-processing teams developed new intelligent cleaning and filtering methods (using software such as Register 360, Trimble Realworks, and Cloud Compare) to harmonize multi-technology outputs and deliver aesthetically and technically perfect data to Veolia. This milestone was validated by the client, who views this partnership as a genuine operational success.
